Updates & release channels
Find verified downloads and keep settings intact when moving to a new release.
Find the right download
The Downloads & releases page is the source of public release availability. Each published entry identifies the product, version, release channel, checksum, and compatible hardware or Android requirement.
A beta is still a release under evaluation. Read its known issues and recovery instructions before installing it on a display you depend on. A page announcing a product does not mean its first binary is already available.
Updating Frame
Install a newer signed APK over the existing release to preserve app data. Updates must use the same package identity and compatible signing certificate, and should have a higher Android version code.
A debug app uses a different package ID from the public release. A separately signed build may also reject an in-place update. Do not uninstall an existing app simply to make the installer accept a mismatched package; that removes its local data.
The app includes signed-manifest checking code, but public in-app updates are not enabled until production keys, hosting, version handling, and the installation flow have been verified. Until a release explicitly says otherwise, download the next APK from this site and install it manually.
Updating Ink
Use the browser installer for the exact supported board. Read the release’s data-retention notes before updating; a full image or partition change can reset saved settings.
The initial firmware layout does not provide an over-the-air update path. A future OTA feature requires firmware support and its own tested migration. A hosted manifest alone does not add OTA capability.
Verify a download
Compare the downloaded file’s SHA-256 with the value published for that release. This detects a damaged or mismatched download. For Android, the APK signing certificate is also part of the update identity.

GitHub Releases keeps the public version history and selected binary assets. Installing an older Android version over a newer one may be refused. Do not force a downgrade or erase data without reading that release’s recovery notes.
Private app and firmware repositories are not included in the public website or release source archives. GitHub’s source archives for this project contain only this public website and its documentation.
